We are delighted to announce our support and participation in the Government’s new Cycle to Work Scheme (see www.cyclescheme.co.uk)
The initiative enables staff to save money on their daily commute by obtaining a bike and cycling safety equipment at a significantly reduced price, with payment gradually made through arrangements known as Salary Sacrifice.
Sarah Dawson is the first su53 employee to take up this offer, and living In London, sees the benefits of having a bike for shorter journeys to clients or to stations.
Why are we so supportive of this?
Benefits to the individuals
- Improved levels of fitness – research shows that currently 7 out of 10 men and 8 out of 10 women do not do enough physical activity to maintain a basic level of health and fitness.
- Stress relief – physical activity can reduce stress levels and improve productivity. ·
- Help the environment –bicycles have a very small negative impact on the environment: cycling reduces the number of cars on the road improving the environment for all
- Could save precious time – half an hour cycling to work every day may take longer than using the car but your won't have to spend hours slogging at the gym to keep fit!
Benefits to su53
- A healthier and more alert workforce, with people having reduced stress levels
- Good environmental practice for the company – being proactive in providing a range of transport opportunities for employees show that the organisation has a forward thinking and environmentally sound culture.
